Policy Exchange was delighted to host a panel discussion including the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Alistair Darling; Lord Hoffmann, former Law Lord; and Lord Justice Bean. The discussion, chaired by Baroness O’Neill of Bengarve, CH, CBE, FBA, is to launch the Judicial Power Project’s latest report, Judging the Public Interest: The rule of law vs. the rule of courts, by Professor Christopher Forsyth and Professor Richard Ekins.
The paper discusses the UK Supreme Court’s decision in Evans v Attorney General, arguing a majority of the Supreme Court wrongly quashed the Attorney General’s exercise of his statutory power to block the release of the Prince of Wales’ letters under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
